Hello Everyone,
My name is Steve and I live in Northern Ohio, about 35 miles west of Cleveland in Carlisle Township.
(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
My first memory of chickens was when I was about 3 years old. My Grandparents kept Leghorns and I remember being chased by their Roo through the peonys, falling down and being pecked in the back of my head. O course I've been in love with chickens ever since! I have yet to get chickens, I'm still wrangling with the Township over that.
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
Zero, although I think I'd like to have a flock of about 24.
(3) What breeds do you have?
I'm a big d'Anver fan, that's what I hope to have, either quail or mille-fleur.
(4) How did you find out about BackYardChickens.com?
Google, how else?
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
I keep Marine Aquariums, ride motorcycles, enjoy boating and fishing
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
I live on about 2.3 acres in a nice colonial. Myself, wife Beth, daughter Heather (teenager), 2 Scottish Deerhounds, 1 Kerry Blue Terrier, a Russian Blue and 3 stray cats that have commadeered the bed. We also have a Cockatiel that just landed on the head of one of the neighbor kids, and I was the one with the cage. We also have a 9 year old daughte, Kiersten that will forever live with me. She is why I want chickens now, they were to be our 4-H project when she was old enough. That's enought for now, I think.
