We are still in the planning stages (imminent tho!) of building and acquiring residents for a backyard chicken area.
We live in the country on about 5 acres - myself, my spouse and 17 year old daughter (who wishes that we lived in a large city, right beside a shopping mall

We have 3 horses, 2 dogs, 3 house cats, 4 barn cats and two goldfish in the horses' water trough.
I am getting very excited to start building a facility to house chickens here - hopefully with lots of room for them to stretch their legs and interesting things to experience. This effort will be for the nice weather - a coop and large enclosure with netting overtop. We'll take the eggs if they are provided...but for sure I'd like to get some birds out of battery cages and into the sunlight etc!
We're planning to keep the numbers small...start with 2...then add 2, maybe two more. (anybody giggling out there? That's the plan, anyway)
Really happy to find such a forum - looks friendly and super helpful and supportive!

And I have had a peek at the coop designs - beautiful! And thanks for the reminder to take pics - will do - but I'm afraid our dreams are bigger than our budget so it won't be near as impressive looking as most I've seen. Should hopefully still work out for the chickens tho - will keep you posted! Thanks again...
