Hello all,
My name is Erin and my husband and I are both 26 and live in rural Eastern Ontario (Canada)
(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
We are new to laying hens (April 2018), but have raised meat birds for 4 years.
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
We currently have 17. Inherited the first 7 from friends when their house burned down and then....chicken math (as I have quickly learned about)
(3) What breeds do you have?
5 buff orpingtons, 2 unknown white birds, 2 silver laced wyandottes, 4 gold laced wyandottes, and 4 speckled Sussex.
(4) How did you find out about BackYardChickens.com?
While googling about my new layers.
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
Anything outdoors...hunting, fishing, hiking. We live on 200+ acres and have beef cows and pigs.
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
It's just my husband and I for now, probably children in a few years. We got married last June and are planning our honeymoon/1 yr anniversary trip for June 18 of this year....we are heading to Zimbabwe. We have an 11 yr old male Standard Poodle and a 3 yr old female Golden Retriever.
I look forward to learning lots and making new chicken friends!
