I received my first chickens (RIR and Phoenix) in April. What a learning curve it has been. Many thanks to all of you who I turned to when looking for answers to my many questions as all of this is very new to me. Now that I have my feet on the ground I thought I should contribute the little experience I have to the group. Currently it's -15 C and I'm working through our first canadian winter with my chickens. All is well.

Welcome to BYC from Niagara Falls, Ontario !!!

I am also new to the website....but waiting for spring before getting my first chickens.
Our winter has started off harsh so far this year, as a newbie I think I'd be a nervous wreck!!!

It is indeed a nervous time. I should mention that one of my hens got broody and hatched out an egg early in November! I was tempted to abort but I couldn't resist the learning opportunity. They are both doing well even in this cold snap.
