Hi there! We recently moved from Southern California to Montgomery County, Maryland, and we are excited to FINALLY adopt chickens of our very own! We decided to begin with chicks and we have a large coop that (hopefully) accommodates more than our fledgling flock - although we understand that this is RARELY the case!
Anyone else in Montgomery County? We’d especially love to hear from you. <3
Here is our FAQ:
(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
Our new chicks hatched on April 1, 2019 and we received them on April 3.
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
We are raising 18 chicks, all born the same day and raised together.
(3) What breeds do you have?
We have Buff Orpingtons, Black Australorps, Salmon Faverolles, Light Brahmas and Easter Eggers.
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
We are new to the hobby and are excited for raising backyard chickens as a family experience.
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
We love camping, hiking and gardening. We have two small dogs, Cotons de Tulear, and a 2 1/2 year old...
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community?
We have been reading the BYC for YEARS, and we only joined when we decided to finally take the step and adopt our chickens. THANK YOU ALL for your support over the years - you have inspired us to take the BIG step and start our flock!
