Hello everyone on BYC,

My name is Dawn and I am looking into getting chickens. My husband is making me wait until we move to our new house within the year so for now I am strictly researching. We live in a Philadelphia suburb and have a baby girl and several pet, 2 dogs, 1 cat, 1 parrot. We get a lot of enjoyment from our current pets and I am anxious to add a few that will give back something besides love and entertainment.

I am open to any advice on starting this new adventure.

. My advice is research to see what all you will need to get started on this great adventure. Do you want to start with pullets, layers or day olds? See what breeds you like and what will work best for you. I have a mixed flock as I like looking out at the chickens and seeing all the different colors. I also have large fowl and banty's. The choices are endless. Good luck and get some chicks once you move.
