Hello!
I am totally new to raising chickens. But I decided to raise them for the fresh eggs and meat. I initially bought 8 chicks and they were happy and growing well, but the neighbors dog got into the coop and killed all of them when they were about 12 - 14 weeks old. When things settled down, we were able to get 2 hens and 1 roo from a friend. They have yet to lay their first eggs, but are just getting old enough so they will start shortly. We also bought 3 Americana's, and 3 Rhodie island red chicks, they are about 12 -16 weeks old now. Its fun to watch them grow, they all have their own personality's! I will be asking a lot of questions, I'm sure, while I learn all the tricks and tips of raising chickens.
