hello everyone,
i'm kate. my husband josh and i just build a little 4x10ft chicken tractor and got 6 hens. (we were told by the farm we got them from that one might be a rooster and we would need to wait to find out) we are incredibly excited but very new to this and have a ton to learn! we found BYC from a link on another site and are looking forward to learning from you all!

Welcome to the wonderful world of chickens! If you posted a picture of your chicks, I could probably help tell you which ones were roos.

Welcome from the Philly 'burbs. From your moniker it looks like you are in a city, which one?

How old are your hens and what breeds? Depending on their age and breed, I'll bet lots of folks here could help you determine if you have a roo in your crew. Good luck figuring it out. We got 25 sexed females last year, but it turned out we had 6 roos! We whittled it down to two after they started crowing and giving the girls a run for the money. Since we are in town, we got rid of the last two after we got fertile hatching eggs. We're lucky, no laws here yet about cockerels in town, but to maintain good neighborly relations we sent them to freezer camp.

Have fun with it!
