Long time lurker (about a year now) new joiner.
We did it, we finally took the plunge and set up the Minibarn here in Phoenix Az. I grew up around around chickies, a real rancher kid, and am so very happy I have a flock of my very own now. We are city homesteaders (beginning that is) and this is all new to my hubby, but hes taking to it like a chick to yogurt.

We have the standard city back yard, and have set up with a Minibarn housing our 9 four month chicks and our 4 rabbits (3 does/1 buck).
We have a great mix of little girls 1 Speckled Hamburg, 1 Buff Orpington, 1 Rhode Island Red, 1 Barred Rock, 2 Delawares, 2 White Leghorns and 1 grab-bag mystery from the rooster bin. Hubby picked that one, but its looking more and more like a hen. HA!
I just want to say thank you to every one of you that makes this place so knowledgeable and habit forming.

Household includes 9 chickies, 4 bunnies, 3 dogs, 1 teen Son and 1 young adult Daughter (and a stray young adult my DD brought home one day >.< She wants to keep it.

)and a hardworking Hubby. Oh and Me too!
As a 1 income family, thanks to situations beyond our control, we are surprisingly much happier trying to return to the "older" ways of backyard homesteading.
Now to just spray paint my thumb green and get some more plants growing. Grow corn and squash, Grow like a weed! So I can learn to can.

I think all I need to add to the flock is a couple EE's Or maybe get a couple of the Aloha chicks I'm excited to see being developed here. Oh no, no more chicks for a bit. So cute tho...
