Greetings from the valley of the sun. We transplanted down here 6 years ago from the thumb area of Michigan, talk about culture shock! Coming from 65 acres to a city lot says it all. I have been dabbling with plants and hubby does heavy equipement repairs and tinkers with any ideas that pop up in his file cabinet. He has room at his shop area so he built a condo for some chickens from spare parts, oh did I mention recycling is our montra! Well he came home with a dozen Rhody's back in March, just a wee bit chilly yet for them so they became garage chicks till the night time temps finally came up. We did raise some white leghorns back in Michigan maybe 20 years ago so its nice to get back into farming in the city he he. I may need some cooling tips when our triples arrive so if anyone has some good ideas please feel free to pass them on. I saw this link on the Phoenix Permaculture site so I decided to check it out glad I did! Time to water my plants.

Welcome. Cooling? Hmmm that is a tough one. maybe if you made them all little bitty fans? Any how. Welcome and we will try to find you answers.

Hi! Welcome!

I can't imagine going from 65 acres to a city lot. I would go totally insane!! I must have wide open spaces to 'free range' on. You're a stronger person than I am!

I was in Las Vegas NV for several months during the summer, May, June, July and August, so I know about the triples!

We were doing some bird of prey studies and stayed at a dry campground outside Henderson, no electricity for air conditioners or fans, no ice water, nothing but shade and the occasional breeze. Have a pic of our thermometer reading 119 in the shade at 10 in the morning.

You should be able to find others in your area to get tips on keeping your guys cool and comfortable. In fact, I think I saw a couple other Arizonans post on the new member board yesterday, so you'll likely find them around the forums!
