Hi All,
I've been lurking in the shadows since April. This site was a big influence in my decision to purchase my first group of chicks in May of this year. I started out with 1 Delaware Roo, 2 BO's and 2 Red Sex links. Within 3 weeks I added 2 GLW (they were supposed to both be pullets, but one turned out to be a roo). After discovering Sylvia was Sylvester I added 3 more sexlink pullets. Then my husband surprised me by bringing home 6 one-day old barred rocks from a co-worker who's wife said "no more". Then some nice lady was selling a hen (Australop, I think) and her 12 chicks mixed breed brood (I think there are some EE's). All of this happened between May13th and July 25th. So how many chickens does the crazy lady from PA have? (Answer 29) Oh, and since I had to build a second coop because we outgrew the first coop so quickly, I added 15 meaties who are presently occupying the old coop, at least until the November.
I have to say chickens are a lot like potato chips. You can't just have one.
So now that I've immersed myself entirely into the obsession of raising chickens, my husband, 3 children, 2 dogs and 2 cats are wondering when I'll ever find time to play with them.
