I am going to use the suggested questions for my intro...

(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
I was involved with 4H as a middle school student, and I participated in "Poultry Judging" with that, but my parents would have NEVER allowed me to have a chicken of my own. On pure impulse, I bought some chicks from a guy at a flea market in Dalton, GA Easter weekend. (April 23, 2011).

(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
We currently have 5 chickens, in a subdivision in Ringgold, GA. We built them a new coop this past week because my husband was off work.

(3) What breeds do you have?
I am not completely sure about the breeds (and as soon as I am allowed to post pics, I will ask some of you to help me determine that...LOL). However, I BELIEVE that I have a White Leghorn, a Buff Orpington, a Barred Plymouth Rock, a Rhode Island Red, and a black Bantam of some sort.

(4) How did you find out about BackYardChickens.com?
I searched on Facebook for a chicken group...There are groups for everything imaginable, so I thought I would give it a shot.

(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
We have 3 children, so we go to a lot of baseball games. I enjoy paper crafts and I am a Thirty-One consultant. We like to play games and go out to eat.

(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
We are a family of 5 (hence the username "McKenley5" The kids are between the ages of 10 and 14 and they keep us running the roads. I am an elementary school teacher and my husband is an electrician. We have more pets around here than people, when you count the chickens. We have 3 cats and 2 little dogs (a Chihuahua and a Shih-Tsu). We have only had chickens for a couple of months, but we have learned so much about poultry already and love them! I totally understand the term "Mother Hen" now, as I keep watching out the window to make sure they are okay when they are out of their coop. They are such a fun group of little ladies!
