Hello from Riverside CA - Silkie Chicken

Just introducing myself. I am Actually sad to introduce myself. My HOA doesn't approve of our little Silkie Chicken. And have to rehome her. She is the sweetest little girl. She's very tiny and occasionally is vocal. I really Want her to go to a loving home. She's about 9 months old.

Hello and Welcome to BYC! So Glad to have you in our Community. Is there anyway to keep here in a kennel inside of your house. Many people have a chicken for a house pet. As small as she is she wouldn't be any more that a parrot would be.

Oh that's terrible, she's a gorgeous girl! I totally agree with @LTAY1946 lots of members have had this same issue and made house chickens out of them. If you have a mud room, a large laundry room, etc... chickens can adapt to living inside, they can even get along with the family dog or cat!

Unfortunately that was my only prerequisite to having pets. Is that they are outside. I'm highly allergic :-( which is why we went with a Silkie instead of a puppy or cat. And she barely makes any noise. But someone complained when she found out we had her. I didn't know it was against the HOA rules.

I don't think you will have a hard time for finding a nice home for such an adorable girl.

She is beautiful, I know you adore her, and I am very sorry you can't keep her. Like others have said, my first thought was to move her inside your house. Are you certain that you are allergic to her?
