I was at the feed barn in April buying feed for my horses and on impulse brought home 2 Buff Orpington chicks. I live in a community which does NOT allow chickens but have kind neighbors. I quickly bought the chicken coop,,,,laid grass,,,fenced in the side dog run area and did some quick research on raising healthy chickens thru this wonderful site.
I am madly in love with my girls,,,Princess and Buttercup. At exactly 21 weeks they both laid an egg at the exact same time. One lays everyday and the other (Princess) just looks pretty. They stand on the air conditioner unit and watch us through the window and call out to us to let them forage in the backyard,,,we call them their "field trips"
Can not wait to have land some day and increase the flock!
My only complaint is the VERY loud squacking every day when Buttercup is laying her egg and Princess wants her to come out and play!! I run out and play girlfriend til Buttercup is done...hope this tapers off!!
