After lurking around here for about a year I decided to join and say thanks to BYC and the many members who have helped me get started with my flock and coop. Never in my wildest dreams did I ever expect I would someday be raising a bunch of chickens in my backyard!
It all started after becoming close friends to a family in our neighborhood who gave us a dozen eggs from their backyard chickens. We cooked them up that night and as I ate those delicious eggs I looked at my wife and said, "lets do it!". We currently have 10 lovely birds: 2 White Rocks, 2 Buff Orps, 2 Amaraucanas, 1 Barred Rock, 1 Welsummer, 1 Speckled Sussex and 1 Golden Sex Link.
