Hello! Finally decided to sign up since I now have chicks, I was a lurker 
on this website/forum for a long time! I live in Sealy, TX, on 6 acres in the country (county too) and my husband finally got a idea to buy me a chicken coop (after many years of wanting to have chickens). I'm been researching, saving bookmarks, Pinterest pins on chickens and getting all the necessary items beforehand. Now we're adding extras to the coop (XL Tractor Supply coop) and making it safe and cozy and adding an additional run with aviary mesh to protect them from hawks and other critters!
(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
Yes, a newbie after MANY years of wanting chickens. March 11th was the day, they're 3 wks old now
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
I bought 7 chicks from a local feed store
(3) What breeds do you have?
I have 3 Easter Eggers, 2 Buff Orpingtons, 2 Blue Stars
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
Having pets that give me eggs and provide me with fertilizer for my garden
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
Gardening/landscaping, cooking, sewing, learning new hobbies
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
I'm a stay at home mom, married for 13 yrs to my wonderful husband, have a 6.5 yr old boy, we have a German Shepherd girl, Yellow Lab girl and 7 cats (3-adults, 4 kittens (11 months old) from a stray we adopted). Anyone looking for a new friend? 3 girls available for adoption
(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community?
I found it the usual way-GOOGLE, I've known about BYC for many many years, I finally joined because I figured out I may have 2 (hope not more) cockerels in my new flock and I need to know how to find homes for those you don't want? I bought pullets but I understand mistakes happen, sexing is not 100% accurate
