Hi!

My mother bred show chickens when I was young and my Grandmother kept Muscovy ducks. I moved from Wales to a small smallholding in Sicily a year ago and started with 3 laying hens.. (I call them the gingers )

It's kind of growing all the time now...
At the moment I have a real mixed bunch. I had a pair of Australorps (sadly the rooster died about a month ago, We lost 2 roosters in 2 months and no clue why... Both seemed right as rain at bedtime... ) Then I got a pair of Silkies that turned into a trio until we lost the rooster, but his first wife now has 4, week old chicks (They call them Moresotas (sp?)here in Sicily)

Then I picked up two beautiful Sumatra hens. Now we have acquired 2 more hens and an enormous rooster. Of an Italian breed Campagnola? usually kept for the table... Though they may be mixed breed for all I know!

We also have a pair of geese, a mallard drake, 5 Muscovy hens and a drake, a pair of guineas and a pair of quail....

And 3 goslings and 3 ducklings...

That seems like a lot to read! Thanks for getting so far...

Donna
