Hello Everyone. My wife (Samantha) and I have been behind the scenes reading up. We were new to chickens in general and just received our first 20 chickens and 2 geese around one year ago. It was about August 2016 when I got interested. It was that one blue egg in the basket of all brown eggs that sparked the chicken quest for me. I am very determined to add a splash of color to those laying boxes. I will be receiving the next order of 15 chicken in @10 days. there are a few more colors to still pick up and now that we are on BYC, there may be a few more.
The coops 95% done and the addition had be drafted up tonight. The chicken have been free ranging and of the 20 we started with 6 became meals. The run is in being laid out in my head and has grown and changed in the last 90 days. construction on the run will start later this year after the coop addition is added.
We also breed Yorkies and in the past huskies.

Nice to meet you Scott. Whoopee another dog lover. Many breeders, handlers, judges, etc. on BYC. I think if you love top quality dogs, you want the same of your chickens. I used to breed and show Cockers - about a million years ago.

Thank you for joining us at Backyard chickens.

Hi, Scott and welcome to BYC - thanks for joining us and I wish you the best of luck with your coop and run build.

Best wishes

Best of luck with the flock and please keep us updated on your progress.

I hope you enjoy being a BYC member. There are lots of friendly and very helpful folks here so not only is it overflowing with useful information it is also a great place to make friends and have some fun. Unlike non chicken loving friends, family and colleagues, BYC’ers never tire of stories or pictures that feature our feathered and non feathered friends

Good luck with your building projects and thanks for joining us!

Thanks everyone for the warm welcome.
The run was planned back before the coop was started but due to a addition going on our house at the same time the coop was all I had time for. I will definitely be starting threads on both the run and coop addition.

Scott
