Hey guys glad to find out there is a forum to help answer all my questions. So far I don't think there has been anything I havnt been able to find here. I'm pretty new to this had to teach myself but love it I get a kick out of my girls they are hilarious to watch in the back yard. I have 4 buff Orpingtons and one RIR mixed with americauna. Sad the mix doesn't lay colored eggs just speckled dark brown. Lost my 5th buff to a crop issue she was a good girl but I was told not to expect my whole flock to make it to maturity. First year any advice serious issues people could fill me in on that I wouldn't really know from the experience in my first 8 months of having my girls?

Hi :welcome
Glad you could join the flock! Sorry to hear you lost one of your girls to a crop problem. Chicken TV is excellent viewing!! I can spend hours just out in the garden watching them going about their business and how flock dynamics work is often very funny.

Be sure to ask any questions you may have everyone here to help. Hope you enjoy BYC :frow

A great place to start would be our Learning Center, and then over to Raising Backyard chickens forum. If you have questions - we'll do our best to give or find answers for you. Welcome to the flock.

So sorry you lost one of your birds. You should definitely stop by our learning center and click on Maintaining a healthy flock. Lots of helpful articles on keeping your birds healthy. There is also a section on diseases and how to treat them that might be helpful to you....https://www.backyardchickens.com/atype/1/Learning_Center
