Hello Everyone,

Just wanted to say hello & introduce ourselves. My name is Mary & my boyfriend's name is Anthony. We have been long time lurkers of this website, it has provided us with extremely helpful knowledge. We finally decided to join! We have a 16 month old Golden Lace Brahma hen & a 10 month old Mottled Orpington rooster. Looking forward to learning many more things. Thanks for having us :)
 
Nice to meet your Mary & Anthony. If you are keeping the rooster, I have to say he will overbreed your one hen to the point of damage and maybe death. A rooster can handle 10 hens, so hopefully you will be adding several more. Even then - roosters have their favorites (the ones too slow to get away) and tend to overbreed them. Hope he turns out to be the best kind of rooster.
 
Nice to meet you too. Thanks for the feedback. Unfortunately we do plan on finding our rooster another home. When we originally got both of them about 5 months ago from a breeder we were under the impression that we were taking 2 hens home. Three to four months later we realized she is really a HE. He just started roosting this week, we live in a very quite neighborhood so our neighbors aren't so happy with the roosting. Hoping to find him a new home and adding a new hen.
