Hello from Southern Door County!

I live in Brussels, WI, a small town in southern Door County, WI. This weekend purchased my first two chickens! I started buying free range eggs from a small local farm a couple of years ago and their approach to their land and animals sparked an interest in me to owning my own chickens.

I have been reading books, magazines and online articles for about 6 months as I prepared to becoming a chicken owner. I bought 2 bantam hens (mixed) at a small animal swap. My husband and I own 40 acres of land, so we have plenty of room to move our chicken tractor about. I feel like a new mother...checking on the birds often and fussing about.

I am excited for our family of 4 to start a new adventure with the hens! And looking forward to reading and sharing lots of good information

This is how i also got into chickens, was getting them from my cousin and then i had to buy store bought eggs and let me tell you, i decided on raising them real fast hehe, nothing like fresh eggs
I also did lots of research and that is how i also found this site almost a year ago...
