Hello from Sunny Southern Oregon

Hello Everyone
I am new to BYC and new to Chickens. So new, I don't even have any yet lol. I want to do as much research as I can before I purchase my first backyard flock.
I just recently (July 1st) relocated from rainy Juneau, Alaska to Sunny Medford, Oregon. I am loving it so far. My fiance and I are purchasing our first house at the end of this month (can't wait!) and next spring I want to get my first chickens. Are there any other members in Medford, Oregon? Or surrounding areas? Like I said, I am new to the area and would LOVE to meet some local people who would be able to help with Chickens. I am also looking forward to learning as much as I can on here.

please go to the "where am I, where are you," forum to find and post on your state thread. There are many chicken people in Oregon and possibly some will live near you. It's a great way to find out the best places to shop, type of coop/run you need for the climate and predators in the area. You may also find locals with the breeds you want - so they won't need the ordeal of shipping.
