Hi, I'm from rural SW AR. As of this moment I only have a small flock of 6 chickens. I just moved into a new place and finally had a place for chickens! I raised chickens, turkeys, and other poultry all through my childhood up until I was 16 or 17 years old. I've had a few chickens here and there in the past 10 years but never more than a few and those were far between. I've missed it that's for sure! I've got 3 Bantam Buff Silkies and 3 Bantam Barred Cochins that are around 4-5 months old. Plan on getting a trio of Golden Laced Seabrights next week. My daughter calls them the "butterfly" chickens! :) I plan on expanding next year to have a few Polish and then some RIRs and Barred Rocks, along with having a few broilers to raise for the freezer.

Hi :welcome

Glad you could join the flock! It's great to hear you have got back into keeping poultry. I'm sure you have missed it very much. That's a lovely mix of birds you have and are planning to get. I have a soft spot for the polish and have a quite a few myself. They are a quirky breed to keep and need a bit more attention with their crests but are super friendly and so funny to watch!

Wishing you the very best of luck with expanding your flock in the future.

Enjoy BYC and all the chicken chat :frow

Welcome to BYC!

How nice you finally have a place where you can get back into chickens! You'll have a very pretty mixed flock by the time you get all your plans in place.
