Hi, I am new to chickens and to BYC and wanted to introduce myself. I am really enjoying this site and my new hobby. I started with a few chicks in November and added a few more in December so I have a total of 7. I told my husband I wanted only 3-4, but I loved them immediately and wanted more as did my 3 young girls who are just as fascinated as I am about them. I have 2 "sexed" Amauracana chicks/pullets - the newest ones that are turning 4 weeks old, 3 Amauracanas that I was told were "straight run" that are almost 2 months old, a Dominique about 2 months old and a RIR that is 6 weeks old...I think, from what I am learning, one from the straight run Amauracanas may be a rooster (Fowl Mom in Largo said she'd take back if I ended up with any that I didn't plan on keeping). It's fun figuring out all this stuff. I am really getting into learning about their feathers, colors, well you know, all that chicken stuff. Thanks so much.

Sounds like you are starting out like most of us on BYC did... Start with a few, add a few, then decided you'd like to hatch a few....Next thing you know, you turn around

On a side note, if your Ameraucanas came from a hatchery (or feed store, etc) they are Easter Eggers and not true Ameraucanas, not that it matters though...they come in gorgeous colors and I love my EEs!!
