My family and I decided to start our own flock of chickens. I should say, I talked my DH into it.

We bought four sexlink and four bantams from our local TSC. Our neighbor incubated 12 of her EE eggs and one hatched. Of course we brought the lonely chick home with us and introduced him/her to the new flock. They all seem to be doing well and settling in.

Would it be a problem introducing three other chicks from another neighbor into are new flock? They will be around the same age as the chicks we already have.

I have read about disease and it spreading from older chickens to younger ones. But is this a problem with younger ones being mixed with another group of younger chicks?

Thank you!
Chrissy

There aer people here who will tell you all about quarantine etc, but I have introduced chicks from a different source into my existing flock with no problem. If your flock has been healthy with no illnesses, and the same can be said of where yo are getting them from, and considering their age, I don't see a problem. I have just hatched out chicks and will be introducing them to my flock in about 6 weeks.

Welcome to BYC. I'm a firm believer in biosecurity. I've read too many devastating horror stories in the forums regarding mixing chicks/chickens from different sources.

from Ohio. So glad you joined. I would bring them home just keep them in a separate brooder for awhile to make sure they are healthy, then combine them.
