We are new Chicken Fans of 4 months! When my daughter's 2nd grade class raised chicks, we were shocked to learn that keeping chickens in our small-ish suburban back yard is perfectly legal where we live!!! Hurray!! We started with 5 chicks, and loved and raised them from cute little fluffiness til now. 1 Buff Orpington (Ginger), 1 RIR (Cinnamon), 1 Black Sex Link (Pepper), 1 White Leghorn (Yellowie), and 1 Sicilian Buttercup (Paprika). Our girls are the hit of the neighborhood. My kids play with them all day. The girls have been in "plays", backyard dance productions and more. They are very tame and love to have their chests stroked as we tuck them in at night. We've been lurking this site since we got them, and finally have a big question to ask now. We lost two of our sweeties this week and are trying to rebuild our flock and honestly, our hearts, with 3 new sweeties. It's crazy to feel this way about chickens!
