Hello all,
I am new to back yard chicken raising. Long story short I was thrust into this when my fiance( who is an animal control officer) rescued 14 Hens that were being used for bait in cock fighting. Deplorable. anywho instead of letting these ladies be put down we decided to dive in. It has been about a week and they are coming around.....even got greeted at the gate las evening! We gave 7 to a friend who already had 2 and we kept 6. in my exitement i built a coop capable of 10-12 LOL . I thought this would be no fun but I have found im addicted to watching the hens and le4arning what they like .....apparently dry meal worms cracked corn and whistling softly makes them happy. I am hoping to learn more and maybe aquire a few more hens in time . They like to hang out while i split firewood too.
