We are excited to find the BackYard Chickens Community and glad to join. Below, we've added our 2 cents about us and our chickens from the provided template. Look forward to conversing with everyone.

(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens? I did have chickens once before many years ago. But, we just got our current group of ladies in June of 2022.

(2) How many chickens do you have right now? We have 6 chickens right now. However, we are looking to downsize to half that. Just another reason we're glad to have found BackYard Chickens. Hopefully, someone can enjoy three of our girls as much as we have.

(3) What breeds do you have? We currently have Columbian Wyandotte and Rhode Island Reds. We needed cold hearty birds who are also good layers, and we got them with both breeds!

(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens? Oh, goodness, just watching them every day is a treat. Having the girls greet me when I come in with treats is always fun. And, there is something very special about eating eggs you have hand picked from your own hens that you care for yourself.

(5) What are some of your other hobbies? Homesteading, gardening, weekend travels, spending time with the grandbaby, reading, all these things fill my heart.

(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share. My husband and I moved back to our home in Colorado in March 2022 after a (very short) early retirement to the beautiful Eastern European country of Georgia. Seems we got there just before Putin decided he needed to get there, too. Once we came back home to Colorado, we've tried to really embrace self-sufficiency. We love to learn about new ways we can independently take care of ourselves. We're looking forward to learning from everyone here, too.

(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community? :D Our 6 girls actually came from BYC in June 2022! We found BYC through a Google search when we were trying to find 6 chickens. We couldn't be happier with them and BYC.
