Hi!
I've been a silent reader for quite some time now and finally decided to join BYC! My name is Haley, and I have 5 - almost 3 months old - Buff Brahma hens (I think!) :p
I'm excited to be apart of the chicken community :D

Welcome to BYC! So glad you could join us!

I had two buff brahmas, but I lost one today.

I think I lost the hen and the other is a young rooster. They are very lovely.

Best of luck with your flock!

Hi Haley, welcome to BYC!

If you haven't checked it out yet, take a look at the great articles in the Learning Center. And if you have questions, feel free to ask.

Nice to have you here and congrats on your new flock!

Thanks.

A hawk got her. Her name was Galadriel. I spent the rest of the day outside trying to find a way to protect the rest. I hope it works.

My contraption is a bunch of purple cloth stretched between the barn and the tree. I call it the Purple Spiderweb of Doom.

I'm so sorry for your loss! I had a flock of three, years ago, and the same thing happened. A hawk took my sweetest girl. It's a terrible thing to have to go through. Something I'm always worried about. :(

Also, thank you everyone for the very warm welcome :D

Thanks.

I set up my "Purple Spiderweb of Doom" over their pasture so that hawks have to think twice before dive bombing.
