The description of Poussin from internet I found referred to eating them:
Poussin (spring chicken) is a pullet or rooster from 4 to 6 weeks old. They are bred especially for meat; a spring chicken is a delicacy and can be purchased
at BBQuality.
I do hope you /the neighbour mean chicks of that age to grow up as chickens and not to be eaten asap. Some French have strange food habits. Eating small birds, frogs, snails and other animal stuf I will not eat as long as I can choose what to eat.
Strange thing to put such young chicks in an existing flock with adult chickens too imo. The neighbour is giving the chicks a hard time. I would prefer to put them in a seperated coop/run where they can see each other but not get attacked. And wait to join them until the are about a month older.
