Hello from the Wiggins Chicks

(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens? We are brand new to raising chickens. we built our chicken coop this weekend.

(2) How many chickens do you have right now? We are getting baby chicks in two day. any suggestion on how many we should start with? we are thinking 4-6

(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens? can't wait to find out!

(5) What are some of your other hobbies? reading, running, riding bikes/skate boards with the kids, swimming, sitting in the sun

(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share. We are a family of four - boy 13 & girl 10 - the chickens will belong to my daughter. we have two dogs (lab and morkie-poo), two parakeets, one hamster & four fish. I (mom) am a nurse working part time. currently working from home to homeschool the kids while out due to the COVID-19. We live on the water and enjoy watching the nature in our own back yard.

(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community? I just found this site as I was looking for guidance in raising backyard chickens!

My coop is 5' x 10 ' - how would i know how many chicks is too many for that size?
