Hello everyone! I'm a recent transplant to southern CO from Alaska. I haven't been on BYC for quite a while....so long in fact, that I had to join again. I'm starting my flock over since I had to leave my almost all of my chickens in AK. I brought 4 with me but have lost 2 since Oct. My surviving girls are a Lavender Orp and Cuckcoo Silkie. A friend gave me 4 hens of the "mutt" variety so we could have eggs. I just ordered 4 more Silkies and 2 BLR Wyandottes from MPC. I miss having the babies so much I couldn't help myself.

Eventually, I'd like to concentrate on breeding Orpingtons and Dorkings, suprisingly my husband's favorite. I had a beautiful Silver Dorking rooster while in Alaska and my husband fell in love with him. When I asked what breed he'd prefer, without hesitation, he said Dorkings. We've decided to wait until we've bought our own place so I can have the proper facilites to start a breeding program. I'll also start up with my Silkies again. I'm also mom to 5 Appaloosas and 11 dogs, 3 of which I'm currently showing. We have 5 Keeshonden, 2 Ibizan Hounds, 2 Whippets, 1 Great Pyrenees, and a rescued deaf Amer. Bulldog. I'm looking forward to getting involved on BYC again!

You have an interested array of dogs - I used to show and breed(Cockers) in the late 60's-70's/ Is the Great Pyrenees an LSD dog for your flock, or for show. Is the American bulldog, white, I know most white dogs have a high incidence of deafness. Good luck with the chickens too.

Hi! I'm also a Trinidad transplant, originally from Columbus, OH. We are new to chickens. :) We currently have 6 (gave 3 to a neighbor after a bear got theirs) and are mutts and a few Rhode Island Reds. They are fun little critters. We also have quite the pack of dogs. We have 3 Cocker Spaniels, 3 Great Pyrenees, 5 (of 6) Great Cockers (oops litter), and a litter of GPs. Most of this litter have been claimed. We do plan on adding other farm animals.

The chickens love to watch the dogs run around. My daughter loves holding them and they each have names. We have found great info on this site. We do plan on splitting the hens and getting a rooster in the next year.
