Hi everyone,
This will be my second post and I would like to introduce myself. I live in Maine and have had Bantam chickens for almost 7 years now. I just recently within the last year started to really truly love them when I happened to hand raise one of our baby chicks from last years clutch. The hens brooded early and I had no idea until I went out to the barn and saw 2 cute little babies. The next day I went out and there was a newly hatched baby laying on the floor of the pen. Obviously she got left behind from the 2 Mommies trying to keep up with the other ones. I thought it was dead. When I scooped it it up it was very cold but uch to my surprise it opened it's tiny eyes. I scrambled and got it under a heat lamp and within an hour it sprang back to life. I ended up bringing her inside into my spare room and set up a nice big box for her. Put a stuffed animal in there and she would cuddle up next to it. Of course at the time I had no idea if it was a hen or a rooster.....Thankfully she turned out to be a hen and she is beautiful. I called her Jenny.
I wanted to put her as my avatar but for some reason I think it says I need 10 posts before I can do this???? Does anyone know the answer to this???
Anyway I am very happy to be here and because of my Jenny I have come to really love my chickens.....she is such a love bug. I have never had a chicken like her before.
I look forward to sharing my experiences with all of you and getting to know everyone. Now if I can learn how to navigate the site I wll be all set......
Again very happy to be here
