Just wanted to introduce myself as a chickenless chicken enthusiast. I don't have any yet and have NO chicken experience (I've been a dog and horse person my whole life) but we do plan on getting some in the next few years. I found with my dogs anyways that forums are jam packed full of awesome knowledgeable people and reading the threads is hands down the best way to learn. A fun fact about me is that in order to make our dreams of moving out in to the country come true a little faster, we (me, my partner and two 80 lb hairy high energy dogs) have moved in to an RV to save money. Good things come to those who are crazy?

Hi future chicken mama, the best place to start is the Learning Center, From there you may want to visit "Raising Backyard Chickens," forum - with a menu that covers probably most of what you want to know about the process.

Generally speaking dogs + chickens = dead chickens. It's best if they never meet.
 
Thank you for the advice! This is my boy. He has seen chickens before and just lays down beside them, so I'm hoping it will be a harmonious existence between the two species. :)
