I'm just getting started with my chicks. I rescued 4 pullets from a local feed store, 2 abandoned and 2 who had been picked on. Kind of a tough way to start but they are healed up and healthy I think. We are currently in the middle of building our coop and run. I'm looking forward to reading threads and articles so we can take the best care of them.

thank you for getting those chicks out of a bad situation.

Thank you all! The first couple of weeks were kind of rough and I wish I had joined sooner. The two who's bums were picked on were plugged up and I ended up with blu medication and Neosporin (without pain killer) and was cleaning and medicating twice a day. I'm hoping to get a couple more chicks next year. I wanted chickens but this was not how I had planned on starting. Normally I get everything in place BEFORE I get the critters but they were in need of help NOW. :-) I'm a sucker for a pitiful creature. I have two buff Orpingtons and two golden sex links. They are sweet girls and we love them lots. The coop we are building will be large enough for 10 as I do want a couple more. I'll post pictures when it's done. :-)
