i am new... have visited BYC a few times to read info when i was clueless
Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens? i got chickens in april. got 6 freebies. then got chicks in june. i live on an orchard and have been around chickens since i was little. the chickens i was around when little were the mean mexican ones. they would eat the nice roosters.... so now i got really cool chickens i let out everyday to raid the garden and orchard of bugs and mice.
(2) How many chickens do you have right now? originally 14... now down to 10 due to sudden deaths and dissappearances... had to die this week. think they fell off the roosts and broke their necks.....
(3) What breeds do you have? had a brown cochin Fanny, Steel an americana i think laid light blue eggs, Dog-bite was one too she had that name because when i got here a dog had pitten off its breast right before i got her, it turned green and yellow and stood still for a month then after 2 months it laid dino sized eggs that were green.. Also lost a sexlink Sexy.
still alive: 1 rooster,, Stupid a buff brahma i think and 9 hens; 1 white brahma Pidgin, 1 banty Banty, Ninja the americana, Buffy the orphington, Spot the barred rock, Red the RIR with crest and The Red One RIR w/ no crest. Aussie the australorp, Stupid another americana.

(5) What are some of your other hobbies? Skiing and college and reading and watching my flock.
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share. only child on a big orchard as a play ground. now have 3 dogs 2 cairn terriers and one big 110lb chocolate lab. used to have a horse and a rabbit.
