Just joined today and have my first chicks. They are Bantams I got from Tractor Supply. Going to be giving them all Mareks vaccine tomorrow and fighting patsy butt.

Cute baby! Welcome to BYC! I'm also new hère & in West Tennessee (just North of Memphis), & am new to chickens altogether. Got mine from TS also....so far no problems but will keep you posted. How many do you have? I'm using manna pro medicated feed...heard can use medicated feed as alternative to vaccination...Anyone out here know about that?

Medicated chick starter is to prevent coccidiosis,.. That has nothing to do with Mareks. Marek's vaccinations I believe have to be given very shortly after hatch. It doesn't prevent Marek's but, may lessen the symptoms. Marek's is everywhere. Survivors will be carriers for life. There are many very good Mareks threads on BYC, use the search box to find them.
