Hello everyone, my wife, daughter and I just got our first chicks today. They are 6 weeks old and we have an Ameraucana, RIR, Silver Wyandotte and a Cuckoo marans. We got them in their coop and they seem pretty happy.

I have been reading the forums on this site for ideas while I built our coop, and really appreciate the knowledge folks share. I don't know what he coop would look like without this website.

My daughter, who is 1.5 yrs old is infatuated with the chickens already, which is a lot of fun to watch.

Looking forward to continuing to learn while raising our own flock.

Here is a picture of my daughter with our new girls.

I will get a couple pictures of the coop over the next couple days. I am still finishing the run, and need to put some finishing touches on the human door.

Welcome & Congratulations!

As you have already received links to some good starting points, I will just wish you all the best.

I hope you enjoy being a BYC member. There are lots of friendly and very helpful folks here so not only is it overflowing with useful information it is also a great place to make friends and have some fun.

If you would like to share more pictures and stories of your flock, you have come to the right place. BYC’ers never tire of these and do not back away slowly or commence eye rolling when the photo album or home videos come out

The four chicks are in the back right, they are 6 weeks old already and fully feathered so they are a little hard to see unless you look closely. Here is a picture of just our feathered babies. Getting a photo of just the child without our daughter was a little bit of a chore
