We just started a new flock sadly we lost all 13 to 2 loose dogs who broke into our tractor Supply compound. 3 coops all connected to a covered run. We were devastated. Took us 3 months to try again. A friend gave us 10 eggs and loaned us her incubator. 8 turned out. We had a cute cottage that was used for storage but is now the new coop! We have 6 more on order delivery in June. So we will have 13 again. One of our 8 is a rooster we think.
We are in East Tenn. Transplant from Ca. Been here just over a year now.
Also building a greenhouse right now as well a sturdier run. Lots of wind here.
Found you on Fb (I think?) LOL.

Hello Annie, and welcome to BYC! :frow Glad you joined.

One of our 8 is a rooster we think.
You'll have more than 1 cockerel out of a hatching of 8.

How are you securing the new run to keep out predators? Sorry you lost your whole flock. :hugs

Hello and welcome to BYC! :frow

I am so sorry for your losses, :hugs this had to be quite traumatic on all involved. Congrats on the great hatch however, that's a good rate. Enjoy your new flock, if you have any questions about anything along the way, be sure to ask. Welcome aboard!
