(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
I got my first set of chicks about three years ago and have been finding my way since then.
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
I’m currently at 8 hens, 2 pullets and 1 oopsie cockerel.
(3) What breeds do you have?
Lots of breeds! I started out wanting a rainbow egg flock, so I have…let me think. A few Wyandottes, a cuckoo Maran, a Dorking, a Sussex, two easter eggers and a Cream Legbar.
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
I do love the fresh eggs, but spending time outside with the hens is my favorite part. Seeing them have room to explore and forage, and cool spots to hang out and take dust baths, makes me really happy, and I love to be out there listening to them go about their day.
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
I love to cook, draw and write, and am learning how to grow vegetables in Colorado after growing up in the Midwest.
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
I work at a vet clinic!
(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community?
I’ve been googling chicken questions since I started looking into starting a flock a few years ago, and BYC is always there no matter the question. It seems like a good, active community with a wealth of knowledge
I finally joined because I’ve been having rooster troubles for the last year and needed some advice!
