Hello! My name is Tasha I’m from Idaho and I am sort of new to chickens. 5 years ago I bought my first chickens and I raised them into egg layers they were 6 amber whites and 4 Easter eggers. Then I added 2 australorps onto that a few months later and received a hen from my grandpa that was not integrating well with others due to being bullied very badly. I still have the australorps and I gave a majority of the hens to my ex when we split and I was left with the australorps and an Easter eggers so I added laced Wyandottes and my one Easter egger had passed away at 3 years old not sure why but now all I have is australorps and the Wyandottes. I’m currently raising 8 /10 black and blue copper marans that I purchased from a local farm I say 8/10 because I lost 1 due to pasty butt and then it started spitting up mucus and died and then this morning I think my brooder coop hit a bit too low for one chick and it died so now I’m left with 8 and raised temps a tad to avoid that happening and also have a worry of are the rest going to be okay. I have more chicks I’ve already ordered waiting to be hatched and picked up 3 of those breeds are from a hatchery and that’s more australorps, bielefelders, and black sex links I’m also picking up olive eggers and silver udds so I’m gonna have a lot of chickens on hand haha I’m super excited because I’m looking forward to being able to keep eggs for my family and sell eggs to those who need them at $2 a dozen if possible. I’m also going to get into breeding and genetics with the breeds I do have as I would love to take my best laying hens and breed them to a roo from good laying stock and further my genetics there’s so much to focus on but I think I want to start there when I do start breeding so that should be fun 
My hobbies are really not much and depends on my mood haha I love art and video gaming so depending on my mood I’ll either video game or I will paint pictures.
I come from a family of four and I’m currently 34 years old I still live with my parents because what even is this economy. I work as a caregiver and only make 578 a week (don’t get me started on my debt)
I’m working my tush off to get things straightened out cause I feel like I should definitely have my own place by now at 34 years old but life is such I suppose haha nothing every really goes according to plan.
I knew of backyard chickens from way back in 2015 I was looking into some goat websites because I have a goat farm lol and some how chickens got added into the search and then I got curious and looked for chicken. Communities haha and BYC popped up so my brain logged it and said don’t forget that and here I am.
