I inherited six chickens from my daughter four months ago.

(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
3 adult hens, three adolescents ( feb 2017) and three chicks ( 6 days old)
(3) What breeds do you have?
2 Buff Orpingons, 1 Wyandotte that is brown and white, 2 presumed Orpington, 1 road island red. Think the chicks are 1: Easter Egger 2: Barred Rock 3. Leghorn
(4) How did you find out about BackYardChickens.com?
Online search
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
Dance , church
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share. I am a doctor. We have an empty nest (lol) now. I have a turtle, 2 Ferrets, two cats, three dogs.

Welcome to BYC, Dr. Ande!

When I first started keeping chickens, I started with Barred Rocks and Buff Orphingtons. They are both beautiful and docile breeds. The Orphingtons are an exceptional breed. It sounds like you have a colorful mix of birds and a zoo at home!

Currently, I am starting a new flock of rare breeds in hopes of preserving these breeds on the National Poultry Associations threatened and endangered list.
