Hello, I'm new here. I have three rhode island red hens, one Malaysian serama cockrell and a silkie hen (I think).

Anyway, one of my rhode island reds is ill. She is between 3 and 5 years old. She (as well as the other rhode island reds) has stopped laying eggs. Her comb was pale but has started regaining colour. She is eating and drinking but has a small appetite. She is always very tired and sits in the run with her eyes closed, standing up. She lacks energy and cannot make it up steps but can walk around freely. Her poo is quite runny. Please help!!!

Hello and welcome to BYC. Sorry to hear about your girl. I'd suggest posting your question here -
Please read this link first: https://www.backyardchickens.com/threads/have-an-emergency-disease-please-read-first.3569/

Then post on this link:

Thanks so much for the info. I've been trying to get a feel for the way the site is set up.

It will be nice to know where to find it if something should happen to one of my hens.

I am sure you have not taken her to the Vet and I wouldn't---never will unless I feel the need for a necropsy because a lot are dying. So lets doctor her.

How does her weight feel?? Heavy/light/average?
To save time when is the last time she has been wormed?
I would start Tylan50----1ml twice a day in the back of her throat(oral) for a few days and see if that perks her up.

Keep in mind if she is around 5 years old-----that's old for a chicken. Yes some live a lot older but a lot die younger than that.

She is light
She hasn't for the 3/4 of a year I have looked after her
what is Tylan50 and where can I get it?

It is generally not good to worm unless the bird truly has worms, a fecal check from the vet would advise if she does have worms, what kind and what treatment. Any wormer can be tough on the bird, especially if it ill from other reasons instead.
