Hello! I'm a chickenless newbie from Minneapolis & glad to be at BYC

Hello! After thinking about backyard chickens for years, I'm ready to take the plunge!

I've signed up for a "how-to" chicken class at Egg|Plant Supply in St. Paul MN (which is a shop I've never been to.)

I'm signed up for a couple catalogues.

I've got a dozen books requested from the library.

I don't have a permit yet--that is daunting task to complete--I must have an ok from 80% of my neighbors within 100ft, so that's 6 households to ask.

I've prepared my kids to surrender part of our small backyard...

...here goes nothing! I'm quite intimidated so it's reassuring to see so many members here, chickening successfully.
