Hello, I am new to having chickens we just finished our coop today, MOTHERS DAY! LOL We put our 5 wk old chickens in it today, This was thier first time outside in the grass, we put them in the run at first, let them walk around then I had to put them in the coop, we made the ladder but they wouldn't get on it, hope they will soon. I'm a nervous wreck with them spending thier first night out there!!

What breed do you have - five weeks is still pretty young if it's a very steep ramp it may take time, a lot of encouragements and treats on the ramp to get them to attempt it.

Is your climate warm enough for young chicks at night.? Usually they are put outside after they are fully feathered out. If it gets cold at night they should have a heat lamp in the coop.
