Hello, I'm Michelle.
I'm fairly new to chickens. A neighbor of mine recently had to move, and left me with all of her chickens! :D
Currently I have 11 chickens. They are of 6 different breeds(lol) and I don't really know what they are. I am doing some research and comparing pictures to try to guess what they are. Maybe y'all can help!
I stumbled upon this site while looking up some information. It seems I have found the perfect place to ask all the questions I want in a friendly community. I have LOTS of questions!!
In my spare time I like to play with my animals, listen to music, and be creative. My passion is animals for sure.
My family has 11 chickens, 3 goats, 4 dogs, 3 cats, 3 turtles, some fish, and a few children. ;P
I'm an adult member, but I live at home. My family is very large and support me in every way. I am a server and cook at a restaurant, as well as a homeschool tutor, and an EMT practice patient. Very soon I'll be starting my first EMT class.
I am glad to be here, and I hope to find some knowledgeable people to help in my confusion.
I've already had to catch loose chickens, treat an eggbound hen, and figure out how to convince a hen to set on a nest. I think I already have a lot of experience!! Lol

Hopefully you will learn a lot, I’m also new to raising chickens and have learned a lot already from all these fine peoples discussions in a couple weeks.

Hi Michelle and welcome to BYC. You can post pics of your birds here, should you wish - https://www.backyardchickens.com/forums/what-breed-or-gender-is-this.15/

On this link you'll find lots of information on almost every aspect of keeping birds - from coop building ideas, to incubating eggs - https://www.backyardchickens.com/articles/

There’s a link on the page above to the Learning Centre - it’s a great resource. If you have a specific topic in mind, just type it in the search box - there's a wealth of information on past and present threads.

Each week, various topics are discussed, which can also be a great resource - https://www.backyardchickens.com/a/topic-of-the-week-thread-archive

Here’s a link to general links and the different forums on BYC - https://www.backyardchickens.com/misc/quick-navigation-menu

You can use this link to contact members in your area - Find your State's thread.

Best wishes
