hello I'm Hannah I'm new to raising chickens and to this awesome website. I think I started out on the hard side of things. I did not want to start with chicks but I now have 3 chicks. two I rescued from a non smart teenager which are new Hampshire and black sexlink. I did have two Delaware chicks but one just died tonight. the two beds have been separated because of a age deference. my Delaware were probably a week old and the other two are more 3 weeks old to 4 weeks. but now I have one Delaware alone and don't know what to do. the poor girl cries everytime I try and put her in her home. so I've been up all night cuddling her keeping her warm... but I have to work in the morning. my mom will be able to stop by a couple hours after I leave. well she be ok by herself?? I hate to start out begging but I'm scared to lose Her too. please help.

Hello and :welcome! I'm sorry to hear of your loss. Is there anyway you can get another chick for the one by herself? That will help so much. If not, it's possible in about a week or so to integrate with the others. I hope everything works out. :)

thank you so much. Will she be ok by herself till I get off work?? I'll definitely try and get another chick for her... but will she be ok in the mean time??

She should be fine as long as she is warm, has food and water and someone checking on her throughout the day. You can also check out your state thread to get helpful information from peeps living around you. https://www.backyardchickens.com/f/26/where-am-i-where-are-you. This is also a good spot to look when raising new baby chicks, https://www.backyardchickens.com/f/11/raising-baby-chicks.

And finally the learning center with all kinds of helpful information, https://www.backyardchickens.com/atype/1/Learning_Center

Welcome to BYC!

So sorry for the chick you lost. You can put a stuffed animal in with this lone baby to snuggle up to. A mirror is nice so when she sees herself, she thinks there are others next to her. You might also keep her insight of her mates so she can see them and not feel so alone. Just try to spend as much time with her as you can. Keep her warm and she should be ok.

Good luck with your babies and welcome to our flock!

Hello :frow and Welcome To BYC! Sorry about the chick you lost, you've gotten some good advice above on hopefully making her happier until you can get another chick or integrate her with the older ones.

Welcome to BYC! I went through the same situation a month ago, Little Chick was so sad and lonely until I got a couple of chicks from feed store to keep him company. Good luck to you.
