We've had a backyard flock for 11 years now... That first group is long gone "Rocky and the Girls".
Our current flock statistics; Oldest Violet (Gold-laced Cochin) is 5 yrs, Luna is 4 (easter egger), 1 year olds- Poppy (Australorp), Iggy & Carrot (Brahma roo & hen), Charlotte (Sapphire sky) AND our newest group of 4 Dolly & Buffy (Buff orpingtons) and Maple & Delta (Barred rocks) are 20 weeks, but I doubt I'll see eggs until the sun returns. We love the birds, so smart! Some know their names and love to sit with us. Those are the heart breakers.
I've referred to this group for so much advice...we've had hawk attacks, bumble foot, water belly, broken bound egg, pendulous crop, coyote/dog snatches, sudden deaths and miraculous recoveries. Now I'm looking for de-worming info! We have movable coops and now an electric fence since the dogs. We free range them only when we can sit and watch. We have a small forested area with many predators. I think it's time for a coop redesign-I hope to find lots of ideas here.
We are in West Tennessee, dogs are gone, down to one feral cat who is trying his hardest at being a part-time indoor car - so far he's been so good!

Hiya, and welcome to BYC! :frow

For deworming, I'll quote @Wyorp Rock

"To treat most worms that poultry can have except for Tapeworm you can use Safeguard (Fenbendazole) or Valbazen (Albendazole). Both are given orally by weight; they do not mix well with water.
Safeguard 10% Liquid Goat Dewormer or 10% Equine Paste dose is 0.23ml per pound of weight given orally once a day for 5 days in a row.
---OR---
Valbazen dose is 0.08ml per pound of weight given orally once, then repeated in 10 days."
If you want help redesigning your coop, you could post pictures in this forum and explain what you want to do: https://www.backyardchickens.com/forums/coop-run-design-construction-maintenance.9/
We're glad you're here!
