Hello everyone,

I am new here, so I can't pm too much yet, haha. Anyway, call me Red. I live in Washington, outside of Spokane on about 5 acres of land. I'm 21 years old and live with my fiance and his family while I go to college for a degree in biology. I was recently diagnosed with spinal osteoarthritis and don't leave the homestead as much anymore, due to daily pain. It gets rather lonely out here, seeing as the only other living things are his parents' toy poodle and the wild quail that stop to mooch lunch off of us :)

Loving birds, and especially roosters in particular, brought me to the Serama. To me, they would be the ultimate and ideal chicken pet. They are small, friendly, and still quite beautiful. Seeing as I am a cock afterall (Chinese Zodiac!) and the disheartening fact that so many roosters don't get the love they need, I would love love LOVELOVELOVE to buy someones extra boys. I do not care about weight size colour ect, I just want one of these lovely birds to raise and hopefully I will have a full flock someday.

I already have food and supplies on hand; I am just finishing up on constructing a mobile mini coop the perfect size and specifications for little Serama so that they can go out in the garden with me and not have to worry they will be eaten or go off "exploring" without me staring at them. (I admit I am refurbishing a rolling chicken broiler for this project, but I assure you all components have been removed!!! I just have a sick sense of humor...)

Please reply here or a pm with your email so that we can talk more about the birds :) I am interested in all Serama, with my very very perfect preference being a dark, frizzled cockerel. Thanks so much and I look forward to meeting more Serama enthusiasts!

Welcome to BYC. Glad you decided join our flock. Serama are certainly a beautiful breed. BYC has lots of Serama fans and owners and you can get in touch with them on our Serama thread at https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/415294/american-serama-thread. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have. We are here to help in any way we can. Good luck in getting your Seramas.

Thanks a ton! I already asked there, but had no such luck. There really aren't any breeders near me, so I might just have to talk my fiance into getting me an incubator and having to put up with hatching 5 roos and 1 hen haha :p

You're welcome; and I'm sorry you didn't have any success on the Serama thread. I hope you are able to find a source of Seramas.

so glad you have joined us. Don't give up on the search. Someone may later respond and you could consider hatching - but hope you would keep the girls too :)

When you have 20 posts you can participate in the BYC Buy,sell, trade forum - there is even a section for "wanted to buy ads," Pixie Chicks had an auction recently - which she does a few times a year.

Unfortunately I just missed her auction :( maybe I'll be able to catch the next. Also thinking about castles eggs.

Haha I would keep them all if I hatched them!! Unless some Spokanites were fans, then I could part with a couple :p
