Hens stopped laying two weeks ago. Thought it was because they were molting. Then a week ago one died overnight, she looked healthy. Three days ago another hen became cripple, still will drink water, but will not eat, she cannot stand any. Now another hen is acting strange because she will not congregate with the others and will not roost but sleeps in a nest box. I inherited these chickens (7) when i bought the house two months ago, been forty years since I had chickens. :( Thanks for any help.

:welcome (I wish it was under better circumstances)

I'm not an expert on things like this (that's where this forum is helpful:Emergencies / Diseases / Injuries and Cures) but wonder if you've checked for mites? Also, have they been wormed lately? Not saying it's either of those but that's what first came to mind.

You can try posting on the link I gave you and seeing what the good folks over there can tell you.

Sorry for your loss, hope things get better soon.

maybe something in there diet they're missing. Maybe the bird is in the nesting box cause shes to weak to go on the perch? and they're not laying eggs because they need the nutrients for them selves? so i would make sure they have grit and extra veggies to give them. you can try some kelp and oregano to give them more minerals

Hi and welcome to BYC :frow So sorry for the circumstances. I'm going to ask a bunvh of questions so that folks who can help will have more information.
What are you feeding them? Be specific and include treats and quantities.
What does their poop look like. Be specific
Can you post pictures?
Is there any blood in their poop?
(already asked but will put it here too) Have they been wormed recently?

I would recommend getting some nutri-drench and administer it as quickly as possible.

@Ravynscroft @Pyxis Can you jump in here?

Wish it were under better circumstances but we're so thrilled that you've decided to join us:ya

G’Day from down under ARpullet :frow Welcome!

I too wish that the circumstances in which you join us were happier ones and I am sorry for your loss :(

I am not an expert on what ails chickens so I will leave you in the capable hands of those who have responded with questions or those on the Emergencies & Diseases Forum should you decide to go down that path.

Best wishes! I do hope that you are able to diagnose and recover your girls promptly :fl

So sorry about your losses. Is it at all possible to have a vet do a necropsy to find out what is causing their deaths? It could be Marek's disease, nutritional disorders or any number of things that may be able to recover with medication etc.
